SOLIUM INFERNUM is the next strategy game from League of Geeks

To reign is worth ambition though in Hell: Better to reign in Hell, than serve in Heaven

September 23, 2022 12:27 AM

SOLIUM INFERNUM, a reimagining of the cult 2009 title of the same name is the next game from Melbourne Naarm based studio League of Geeks.

Speaking at EGX London, studio co founder Trent Kusters revealed the studio had acquired the licence for the game and that it was a direct inspiration on their previous digital board game ARMELLO.

The game will be a modernisation of Vic Davis' critically acclaimed political strategy game set in hell where you take on the role of one of the archfiends of hell.

Players will be able to scheme their way through both single player campaign or asynchronous multiplayer matches online, using deceit and strategy to win.

"I can't remember who said this about the original game, but it's all about the cold glory of a difficult decision," said Kusters.

"Because of it's simultaneous nature, because you only get a few actions per turn, you're second guessing your opponents, it feels like the DARK SOULS of strategy games, not because of the difficulty but because of the weight of those decisions."

“You can build your military might but more often than that it’s Machiavellian manipulation that wins the day”

"It’s a friendship destruction simulator, it’s based on some of the great friendship ruining board games like Diplomacy."

"You can frame other players, destroy someone’s legion and it doesn’t say Trent destroyed the legion it says your poor victim's name instead”

The game is scheduled for release on PC in 2023.
